About Wool and the Forest.

 A Small Life Lived Well

Wool and the Forest comes to you from a little cottage deep in the woods.

Located on the edge of the wilderness of the Olympic Peninsula’s great National Park, this tiny one-room cottage, surrounded by giant cedars, firs and alders, is the backdrop to Daki’s textile art and makings. Her hands are often full of wool, wood, or naturally dyed & printed fabrics. She walks through the forest trailing bits of sawdust, tufts of wool, drippings of botanical dyes and all the gifts of nature that are reborn through her art. And not a day passes without her thoughts straying to the next moment she’ll commune with her organic indigo vat, elbows deep in the blue of her textile heritage.

Wool and the Forest is a deeply collaborative, family affair. And while Daki might be the Mischief Maker in Chief, Arik is very much the platform of strength, capability, ingenious problem solving and endless support that all our work here comes from. As a family that does everything together, our three little daughters are important kernels of the inspiration, intention and even hands on collaborations that drive all we offer you through Wool and the Forest. 

Our joint desire to craft a Small Life lived Consciously and Gracefully is why we started Wool & The Forest. To live in the truth that taking less and living small allows us the very large gift of being able to Give More to more of our fellow beings. To Share More…with all of you!

By supporting our work you are helping us to cultivate that small life, to share the beauties of it with all who will be uplifted by it, and to sow the seeds of this way of living with as many people as we can reach. So that more of us may come to see that to live a small life...is actually no small thing. 

What if more of us used our hands and hearts and arts and crafts, with consciousness and purpose, to live much smaller lives? At Wool and the Forest we have the audacity to believe that the courage to live a smaller life might actually be the lasting solution towards making this beleaguered mother planet of ours into a much bigger place than it has now become. 

A small life...is enough.
